BWT ALPINE FORMULA ONE TEAM AND JAAQ OPEN UP ON THE MENTAL CHALLENGES OF ELITE SPORT ON WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

BWT Alpine Formula One Team marks World Mental Health Day this October 10th and is committed to mental health support within the motorsport industry and globally.

Through the season BWT Alpine Formula One Team has continued to champion its collaboration with Official Mental Health Platform Partner, JAAQ – Just Ask A Question.

Launched last year, the partnership has provided team members with the ability to better understand their own mental health and of those around them in a safe and supportive environment. The team is proud to represent JAAQ on the A525, in team hospitality and back at base at the Enstone factory, in the UK.

BWT Alpine Formula One Team driver Pierre Gasly has shared his own personal stories about the pressures of Formula One and the challenges he’s faced. Visitors can ‘Ask A Question’ on the JAAQ platform and learn how Pierre navigates the highs and lows he experiences in the world of racing.

Pierre’s experiences, which have been released today on the JAAQ platform, are included alongside world-leading testimonies on over a hundred mental health topics.

Pierre Gasly, BWT Alpine Formula One Team driver, said: “I think the JAAQ platform is amazing for everyone who watches and is seeking these videos to learn about themselves and hopefully improve their quality of life, and mental health. The platform allows the freedom to feel the way you are. Everyone is different – we want to have examples and directions on how we should feel and what we should do but I really think each individual is unique. Whatever works for you, you are the one to find out through the process. Just be easy on yourself and it can help.”

The partnership has continually focused on internal team support. Formula One can be a challenging environment and recognising the mental health impact faced by employees in the high-performance setting, as well as at home, is a high priority for the team.

A customised version of the JAAQ at Business platform is available all year round exclusively for all employees with shared personal journeys from members of staff included on the platform, alongside Pierre.

Available to all team members, as well, are regular visits from a JAAQ representative to speak face-to-face and offer further accessible mental health support. The aim is to reach as many employees and people as possible and to encourage open conversations about mental health.

Fans of BWT Alpine Formula One Team who are currently facing challenges with their mental health, or those seeking to support their loved ones, are encouraged to visit JAAQ.org for inspiring content from world-leading clinicians and those with lived experience.
